Would you like a spot of tea?

If you are ever in the Houghton area, you simply must go to the Four Seasons Tea Room. http://www.fourseasonstearoom.com/ My book club met there on Saturday and we had a fabulous time. Not only do you get to choose from a huge variety of glorious teas (all available decaffeinated), you also get to munch on scrumptious food. We all opted for the full afternoon tea (which is also available for two) and we all left very satisfied! The decor adds to the ambiance, not to mention the variety of hats that are there for you to wear. I donned a couple and felt like a little girl playing dress-up. Here is my first course. I opted for the roasted veggie lasagna. The other choices were chicken lasagna or quiche. It was tasty!

Here I am with Jamie and Niki and our lovely hats.

Here's Tammy and Jen looking lovely in their hats.

Here's Kathy, Janet, and Aaron modeling their hats.

Thanks On-Star!

On-Star is a wonderful thing to have, when you actually need it. Here's the story. I was heading home from work, on my way to pick up Anika, when I realized I needed to get gas. The place I usually go to, because it's on my way home, is also the cheapest in the area. Needless to say, it is always very busy and that day was no exception. After waiting in line for about 10 minutes, a spot finally opened. YEA! I quickly pulled in. Got out. Only to realize that the gas tank was on the other side. "Oh no!" (What I actually said was more explicit than that) I got back in my car pulled ahead so that I could turn around, and sure enough a car swiftly took my spot. I put my arms up as if saying, "Noooo....You took my spot!!" The girl understood my gestures and gestured back, "I'm sorry!" She looked around to see where she could go. She seriously was going to give me my spot back. What a kind person!! I noticed a vehicle behind her getting ready to leave, so I rolled my window down and stuck out my arm to point out that she could back up into that spot. (it would have been easier for her to back-up, then for me to drive around to the newly opened spot) FINALLY, I'm able to pull up to a pump! I quickly got out of the car, I'm in a hurry now because I'm late for picking up Anika. As I was closing the door, I vaguely heard a click, but didn't think too much of it. As I walked around the car (the tank is on the passenger side) it begins to resonate what the clicking sound was. I looked in through the passenger side window and sure enough, the doors are locked, and the keys are in the ignition. "Oh sh#$....F&%$...F&%$....F&%$" Is what I believe I said. My mind is racing. What am I going to do? I don't have a cell phone. Who would I call if I did? Oh Crap! The line of cars. They are going to be so mad at me!!! Then I remembered....Oh yeah! I have On-Star! But wait...what good will it do me when the little blue button is inside the car? Then I remembered that they have an 800 number for situations like these. I went inside the station to pay, asked to use their phone and called Doug to get the number. I called On-Star, gave my information, and wa-la....my car door is unlocked. On my way back to my car, I'm thinking how swift this On-Star thing is and am feeling pretty good....major catostrophy averted...and wait a minute...what's this? My driver's side window is rolled all the way down??? Why would On-Star roll down my win.......Oh yeah. It was down the whole time. I never put it back up after I motioned to that girl about the open spot. I did a quick look around to make sure no one noticed my "blonde moment". I sheepishly drove away wondering.....I wonder if I'll make an On-Star commercial??
